BIAY- January 5th

Check in when you are done reading in the comments area. Be sure to click "subscribe by email" to continue reading the discussion, and be aware of when someone else comments (or "posts") to the "thread". You will have to click that for each post you comment in. To receive a daily summary of new posts to the blog, subscribe in the right sidebar through my feedburner subscription service.

If you are using gmail, the "alerts" will not come as separate emails, which- would be a good reason to use your gmail account for this. If you're not using gmail, you can click through to the blog to read the conversations in the order it happened :o)

Happy Reading! (and I'll be back!)

  1. Even John the Baptist struggled with doubt. And when Jesus was confronted with John the Baptist's doubt, He didn't scold him, he reassured him - "look at the evidence". I love the permission to doubt and the grace in dealing with it. I love more the confidence that Jesus exudes here -- there's no problem, the evidence stands up.

"But wisdom is justified by all her children." Is this the Biblical equivalent of "the proof is in the pudding"?

Interesting that Jesus forgave the many sins of the woman with the alabaster perfume, but the text also implies that he forgave the few sins of Simon. Simon was just less grateful, because He didn't realize the depth of his sinfulness, whereas the woman did, and was therefore more grateful and demonstrative.

Genesis: I remembered that it was four events, then four people. I remembered that the people were Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, but until today I couldn't remember the fourth event (Creation, Fall, Flood and Babel). I feel better now!

These names in genealogies, by the way, make decent passwords, or obscure people to throw into a game like Celebrities . I should rename my kids to Biblical genealogy names on my blog!

  2. LMBO yeh that would be a change- using OT names for kid name son blogs, too funny. but you're right, that's a good idea for those who do it.

    My reading for today was:
    Luke 7:18-50; Genesis 11; Psalms 5

Something that tickled me in Luke was "Simon I have somewhat to say unto thee" ... I can see Jesus - "Hey Simon, I got something to say to you now listen" LOL

I saw another reference to the Trinity again in this chapter-
    Genesis 11:7
"Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."
