  1. Luke 13
26 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.'
27 But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from.
So often I've wished that you could come to know Jesus by proximity (and I guess, once you're a Christian, that is how you know him better -- spend time with Him). I've had a fair number of friends, though, who I wished Jesus would just "rub off" on, because even though they were my friends, they really weren't interested in believing.

Genesis 24 a beautiful chapter that is so long because the entire story is told twice in a row. It must e that there's emphasis in the story -- probably of God miraculously ordaining everything just perfectly.....

  2. Luke 13:18-35; Genesis 24; Psalms 17
    Genesis 24
    v13-14-
"Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master. "

Why can't we be that specific and have faith that our prayer will be answered? I've always thought this was such a bold show of faith by this guy.

    v22, 47
"And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; "
"And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, the daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands. "

SO ..... is body piercings good or bad? It appears to be at least acceptable in Genesis- when did that change?

I found it interesting the marriage traditions shown in this chapter in -
v48- "And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left. "
v65- "For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself."

  3. You know something that's emphasized at our church with kids is how their faith has to become their own, and not mom and da'ds faith. Just because mom and dad are saved, doesn't mean you are. The teachers continually challenge the kids to evaluate their spiritual life and make Christ real in their own lives. What you said about rubbing off made me think of that. ;)
