Luke 17
ReplyDeleteSo cut and dried: "Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him." If I'm offended, it's my responsibility to tell the other person (they probably have no idea they hurt me), and to forgive them afterwards. So simple.
"Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it." I had never noticed the context of this verse before. He's talking about the return of Christ as king (I think, based on "the Son of man is revealed", and about how we don't want to look back (like Lot's wife), longing for our earthly life. Instead, we want to let our earthly life go, and eagerly step into our heavenly one....
Or something like that. I find it interesting to read that verse in context.

I hope I word this right-
does this mean Christians who don't hold as conservative convictions as you that you don't understand why they don't ... and you believe it is unbiblical ... and it bothers you (or "offends"?), that you should be forgiving towards these people?
Genesis 29:
v11- "And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept."
At first I thought that it was rather forward for Jacob to kiss Rachel before they were married, but when I cross referenced the passage the same word for kiss is used when Jacob reunites with Esau, and Joseph reunites with Benjamin, too. So it couldn't have been an intimate type kiss, kwim?
v27- "her week"- what does that mean really? All I could find was for week, "Feast of Weeks", what is that?
Psalm 22:9- "All [they that be] fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul."
Gotta love the harmony of the scriptures :o)
