  1. I'm a day behind. Hoping to catch up tomorrow.

The Lord's prayer. Sometime I'll write a lot about this. My pastor says it's meant to be prayed (or some similar version of it) daily. I think he's probably right (since it refers to daily bread). And it's wonderful (though I like it better in Matthew 6). The part that's changed my life the most: Forgive us as we forgive others -- i.e. - in the way that I forgive others, please forgive me that same way. Good motivation to learn to forgive, if I'm supposed to pray that!

"If you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more then shall your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him?" This is, in my mind, an essential verse on the Character of God. I usually think that God doesn't really care about me an the details of my life enough to really warrant my going to him with small requests, etc. This verse tells me that he knows the details, and he cares, and he delights in answering my requests....

    Genesis 19
Hmmm.. This chapter always makes me despise Lot. "Here, take my two DAUGHTERS and rape and kill them -- I don't care". HELLO!!!!

Lot is screwed up, he lives in a screwed up place, and his daughters are screwed up. I hope I don't live to see our country get this bad! It's interesting to me to think how much where you choose to live affects things -- like how screwed up your family is. You would think that the family unit would perhaps have more control over that -- be able to resist the culture, or something. But it didn't happen here. And you know, I doubt it really happens here, in the USA, now, either. I just don't want to admit that I'm pretty effected by my culture.

Wow, the first couple of verses of Psalm 12 go really well with the Genesis... I'm so glad that God prevails over these wicked cultures!

  2. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you get written on the Lord's prayer, Amy. My thoughts went to the "little things" in prayer this morning as well. Talking about culture. I've often wondered what kind of peace it would be agreed upon if there were a balanced approach to like, counties, for examples. There's so much infighting over the country as a whole pertaining to morals and values, what if, say, San Fansiscco (sp?) become "the place" where the 'left' got what they want, and there be other counties / cities where the 'right' achieved what they wanted. Instead of trying to please everyone everywhere (which you can't) ... do something like that? kwim?

  3. I forgot to post my notes for this day-

    Luke 10:21-42; Genesis 18; Psalms 11

    Luke 11:
9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

This falls back to the little things in prayer, too, don't you think? If we can just REMEMBER this!
